Albuquerque

The city is divided into 4 quadrants (which cover 18 areas): NW (includes North Valley and Westside), SW, NE, SE. In addition there are residential areas outside the city limits in all four directions. The main areas of the Albuquerque Metropolitan Area are:

Sandia Heights - Area 10
At the foot of the Sandia Mountains lies Sandia Heights. Panoramic city views and natural terrain landscaping are predominant in this area. The lots are one-half to one acres and the homes range from elegant contemporary to adobe-style. Just south of Sandia Heights is High Desert, Albuquerque's newest Northeast Heights subdivision.

North Albuquerque Areas - Area 20-21Sandia Heights
This area is more rural and less populated than Sandia Heights but with similar architectural styles. There are great city and mountain views and horse/animal privileges are allowed in certain sections.

Far Northeast Heights - Area 30
The Tanoan Country Club highlights this area which includes many of the newer custom home developments and master-planned communities found in Albuquerque.

Near Northeast Heights (includes UNM and Uptown areas) - Area 40-42
The charming homes in this area range from 20-50 years old. Here you will find mature trees and established landscaping.

Northeast Heights - Area 50
This area has views from the foothills of the mountains, jogging and running paths and easy access to I-40 and Kirtland Air Force Base.

Four Hills - Area 60
Situated in the Manzano Mountain foothills, the Four Hills Country Club is central to this area. Some of the city's large custom homes are located in this attractive neighborhood which has easy access to Kirtland AFB and I-40.

Southeast Heights - Area 71
Bordered on the south by Kirtland AFB, Sandia National Labs, and the Albuquerque International Airport, this area also provides easy access to hospitals and downtown. The Ridgecrest and University areas include enchanting older homes in established neighborhoods.

Downtown - Area 80
Many older homes are located here and in historic 'Old Town' nearby. This area is convenient to the city's museums, zoo, Convention Center, office buildings and shopping. Excellent freeway access.

Southwest - Area 90-92
Located near the Rio Grande, this area is dominated by tall trees, green pastures, gardens, fruit trees, and horses. There is a true rural feeling here with some sub-divisions offering mini-farms.

North Valley - Area 100-103
The Rio Grande runs through the center of this rural area. Horse privileges are available in some sections and home prices vary.

Northwest / Ladera Heights - Area 110-111
Views of the city and mountains are magnificent in this family-oriented area. Taylor Ranch, a master-planned development is located here and many homes are new. The Ladera Golf Course will test your golfing skills

Paradise Hills - Area 120-121
This west mesa area has great views of the surrounding mountains and the city. The Paradise Hills Country Club and golf course are located here. Easy access is provided to the Northeast Heights by way of the 6 lane Paseo del Norte Bridge.

Corrales - Area 130
Gardens, fruit trees and horses in this area add to the slower pace of this village. Older adobe homes blend with contemporary on large lots and some mini-=farms are also available. This historic roots of some of the homes and lovely views add to the charm of this village.

Rio Rancho - Area 140- 162
The fastest growing community on the westside is Rio Rancho. This area offers affordable housing, wonderful views of the mountains and provides its own shopping centers, golf course, country club and school system. Intel is located in Rio Rancho.

Bernalillo/Algondones - Area 170
Located near Albuquerque, these smaller communities offer a rural, country atmosphere with unpaved side roads, orchards, gardens and pasture lands. The city is easily accessible by I-25 and Santa Fe is approximately a 45 minute drive.

Placitas - Area 180
Older adobe homes mix with new contemporaries in this beautiful area. The community is highlighted by large lots, great views and lovely executive homes. The rolling terrain and high desert vegetation provide an enticing lifestyle. The community into Albuquerque is about 25 minutes driving time and 45 minutes to Santa Fe via I-25
